Alfred Nott Optometrists in Port Melbourne is a family owned practice providing eyecare since 1896, with our Port Melbourne rooms being an integral part of the local community since 1975.
Our principal, Alan Greenhill, has been in practice here for over 45 years and knows the community well We take pride in offering you personalised, high level vision care. Our loyal staff have worked here for many years, ensuring you are provided with a thorough eye examination. We utilise the latest technology and have extensive experience in the management of eye disease, contact lenses, sports vision, children's vision and occupational health and safety.

Being an independent practice enables us to customise our care to each patient and ensure their individual needs are met. We also have the freedom to be innovative and make changes to our services as new technology becomes available. For example, the first contact lenses in Australia were fitted in this practice by Ernst Goetz in 1926.

What we love about Port Melbourne?
Port Melbourne has in some ways changed greatly since we opened our Port Melbourne premises in 1975, and yet in other ways it has hardly changed. The local community is a group of strong, loyal and diverse people. We see people from all walks of life, with so many of them having fascinating stories to tell. We see schoolchildren, families, professional and business people, sports men and women, elderly - we never know who will next come through our door and what we may learn.

I have always been interested in science and maths, as well as working with people. Optometry has allowed me to pursue both those interests in the same career. Outside of work, I am a model train enthusiast, and am heavily involved with the Waverley Model Railway Club.
Giving back
Alfred Nott Optometrists collect preloved glasses on behalf of the Wheelers Hill Lions Club to be distributed to people in need in third world countries where eyecare is almost non-existent. We also donate items to assist with fund raising such as glasses and sunglasses to local schools and community groups.
