Ahmed Azzam
I chose to become an optometrist because of a lifelong fascination with the complexities of the human eye and a strong desire to contribute positively to people's lives. Growing up, I was always interested in biology and health sciences, and optometry offered a unique blend of both. I love my job because it allows me to improve my patients' vision and overall quality of life. Each patient presents a new challenge and an opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills to make a real difference. The joy on a patient's face when they experience clear vision for the first time or after a long time is so rewarding and drives my passion for this profession. In my spare time, I love playing soccer, which keeps me active and engaged. I also enjoy taking my family—my wife and three daughters—out for various outings, creating lasting memories together.

Optometry is a very rewarding career, with room to always learn and improve, which I find very satisfying. I've been a practicing optometrist for 15 years. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading and travelling.
Giving back
We try to give back to our community by assisting with eye test screenings at our local school, Illim Childcare and the Ottoman Village age-care residence. We also work with employment and accommodation agencies to assist concession card holders and migrants with translators or same speaking language professionals, as well as offering discounted glasses to aid them as they are usually not too well off financially. Some of the other charities that we often donate to are Human Appeal and Fred Hollows.
