Dingley Village has a real sense of community - friendly, caring and supportive akin to a country town except it is located in Melbourne! We are also surrounded by many sporting clubs - golf, football, netball, tennis, cricket, you name it! Making it a sporting hub.

Darran Yeow
After reading the book, 'The Power of One', I was inspired to make a difference in the world. I was particularly drawn to Africa and the plight of its children. Being an Optometrist allowed me to make a difference in their lives, providing quality eye care and in some cases, the gift of sight through my volunteer work in Africa. This experience completely changed my life - it taught me gratitude and about how to live in the moment as life is precious. I've been an optometrist for 17 years now. In my spare time, I try to run as much as I can, my last one being the annual Melbourne Marathon. I also enjoy playing footy and am an avid supporter of the Melbourne Demons – may they be triumphant once again!

I became an optometrist because I love helping others. In high school, I went to my career counsellor and told him that I wanted to work in Health; wanted to work with my hands and wanted to work one on one with patients as I enjoy forging rapport with people. The counsellor suggested optometry but secretly, I had my heart set on nursing. I was successful in getting a place for Optometry but deferred it so I could try my hand at nursing. After a year of nursing, I realised it wasn’t for me; I enrolled into Optometry the following year and the rest is history! I have been practicing optometry for 3 years. In my spare time, I enjoy playing board games, sightseeing, especially oceans. I also love to eat (although dislike cooking!) and love eating anything with cheese in it.
Giving back
Insightful Eye Care performs kinder screenings throughout the year at two local kindergartens in Dingley Village. We raise funds every year for various charities such as Optometry Giving Sight, Glaucoma Australia and the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal via the Run for the Kids fun run. In 2016, one staff member raised funds and participated in the charity walk organised by Motor Neuron Disease Victoria in memory of one of our patients that lost her life to the disease.
