Our dedicated team at Harris Blake Parsons Optometrists have many years of experience and will take the time to assess your eyes, listen and understand your needs during a 45 minute comprehensive eye examination. We have access to the latest in digital technologies to assist in the testing of your eyes. We individually select our frame and sunglass ranges so we are confident that with our help you will find something to suit your unique look and style. That's why we love what we do! And we've been doing it since 1957.

We have a passion for people and we love having the freedom of choice with regards to lens and frame options to suit all types of prescriptions and requirements. Being an independent practice we are able to spend more time with each customer in order to provide individual solutions for each person that walks into our practice.

We are located in the recently renovated Eastland shopping centre. This centre has recently doubled in size and contains new and vibrant retail experiences, which we take inspiration from in all that we do.

The eye and vision have both always intrigued me, and still do 35 years later! I realised that this job would allow me to improve people's quality of life every day. The fact that I would be working with people one on one also really appealed to me. When I'm not practicing though, I love spending time with my family and skiing when I get the opportunity.

When I became short-sighted at a young age and was prescribed glasses in primary school, I recall being fascinated during my trips to the optometrist and all the equipment and tools there. It was an incredible experience to see clearly each time I received new glasses, and I wanted to be able to give other people that feeling of delight when they too saw clearly. I cherish my family time and playing with my young son, as well as taking time for myself to shop, keep fit and go to the beach.

I grew up with a GP for a father and sisters interested in medicine and nursing so there wasn't much choice! I had an interest in eyes from a young age due to my regular eye tests as a child and after having a day sitting in with my optometrist when I was 16, I knew it was something I wanted to do. Optometry aside, nothing gets me more excited than good food. I love cooking and the way it can bring people together.

I had my first eye test and was prescribed my first pair of glasses during my early teenage years. My love of science set me on a path to Optometry, as I loved the combination of working with people and the great variation of the job on a day to day basis. My little boy keeps me busy on my days off and I love spending quality time with him, my husband and extended family.

I always wanted to join a health profession when I grew up, and when I learned about the eyes as extensions of the brain I knew this was the profession for me. Working in this job has given me the opportunity to not only delve deeper into the complexities of the visual system, but also allows me to help people every day. Aside from Optometry, food is my other love and I enjoy trying new restaurants, baking and discovering new places.
Giving back
Our main annual fundraiser is for Optometry Giving Sight. Their funds and programs help give sight to those in developing countries who do not have easy access to products and services. We also collect old glasses for the Lion's Club which are then redistributed overseas to people in need.
