Taskin Hafouz-Housein
I needed glasses from a very young age as I was short-sighted and remember visiting the optometrist regularly to have my eyes checked. At an early stage in my life, I realised the value of optometry and the impact it has on all our lives. This fostered a natural interest in eyes and optometry as I wanted to learn more. Outside of optometry, I enjoy swimming at the Brunswick City Baths, cycling down the Moonee Ponds bike trail and going to the gym.
Ho Wah Ng
Optometrists, glasses and contact lenses were part of my life from a very young age. Being very short-sighted, I was amazed at the significant improvement that wearing contact lenses had on my vision and quality of life. With a nurse for a mother, I was inspired by her health care work for the community and decided that optometry would be the right choice for myself. I have since spent the last decade in public health optometry and enjoy focusing on contact lens fittings.
Giving back
Optometrist Ho Wah has provided volunteer eyecare services to struggling communities in Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and the Northern Territory. He has worked alongside Fred Hollows to train some of the Papua New Guinean locals to be self-sufficient and provide eyecare to their own local communities on an ongoing basis. Both our optometrists have also spent many years teaching students at the Australian College of Optometry, often providing clinical placement supervision to final year optometry students. Our team at InFocus Optical are enthusiastic supporters of the not-for-profit charity AHHA and organise fundraisers to provide much needed eyecare to Vietnam and Cambodia.
