We are a well established local family business in Northmead. Our optometrists John Granata, Aileen Towse, Eva Yuen and Brad Cherrie have over 60 years of experience between them and their aim is to give you the most comprehensive ocular examination available. We pride ourselves on giving good old fashioned service and advice and will go above and beyond to meet our patient's needs.
Our staff make it their mission to ensure all our customers walk out looking good .... after all, your glasses are the first thing people see when they look at you! We have product ranges to meet all budgets and hundreds of digitally designed lenses to suit your lifestyle so come and see us - and make wearing glasses fun.
Our eye examinations are bulk billed with Medicare and we have Hicaps available.

Independent Optometry means we are not ruled by corporate greed where eye tests are done in 15 minutes. Our eye tests are comprehensive and each person is booked in for 30 minutes. Independence also allows each of our Optometrist to specialise in each area from retinal photography, threshold visual field analysis, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, eyes, orthokeratology, myopia control, keratoconus, low vision, contact lenses, behavioural optometry and vision training. It also allows us to invest in the latest technology in eye exams such as optical coherence tomography and lenses.
We also specialise in lenses and frames specifically designed to improve the sight and quality of life for children with Down Syndrome.
John Granata is also a leading authority on glasses for sports such as shooting and cricket. Working with Bolle and Serengeti we are able to provide you with prescription sunglasses with specialty lenses for sports such as cycling, tennis and golf.
Our practice stocks a great range of luxury designer, high quality and budget spectacle frames, sunglasses and contact lenses. Some of our most popular brands are Dior, Gucci, Bvlgari, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Celine, Tiffany & Co, Swarovski, Fendi, and Versace. We also have RayBan, Carerra and Tag Heuer just to name a few.
Bespoke French brands such as Face a Face, Caroline Abram and Karavan add some uniqueness to our range as well as Australian brands such as Jono Henessy, Carter Bond and Van Staveren.

John is a highly experienced Optometrist with almost 40 years of experience with glasses, contact lenses, eye care and eye health. John has a strong passion for optics and grew up in an optical family.
John graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Optometry in 1969. Following the completion of 2 years of national service, he worked at Parramatta for 3 years before joining and then buying a practice in Hornsby where he still attends part-time.
In his spare time, John enjoys playing squash and cricket. John’s lovely wife, Ronda also works in the store. John has two beautiful children and three equally gorgeous and bubbly grandchildren who are the loves of his life. John also speaks fluent Italian.
