Lees & Henschell Optometrists are a locally owned, independent Behavioural Optometry practice, originally established in 1978. Located in Kenmore, in Brisbane's west, we are recognised for providing expert behavioural optometry services for adults and more specifically children, through our Vision Therapy programmes. We offer over 100 years of combined optometry experience, the latest diagnostic technologies and eyewear solutions. We're also passionate about helping to eliminate blindness in third world countries by volunteering optometry services and raising funds for Optometry Giving Sight.

Chris Robinson
I was drawn to optometry because I could engage with people on a medical level. By becoming Lees and Henschell's practice owner and director, Chris has also been able to explore his interests in retail and business. With 14 years of experience, I am able to provide excellent eye care with the use of old and newly developed technologies and I enjoy working with the Lees & Henschell team to provide eye care excellence to the Brisbane community. Outside of optometry, I love to spend time outdoors surfing, hiking and camping.
Sue Henschell
Before choosing a career in optometry, I thought about pursuing psychology. Interestingly, I gravitated to Behavioural Optometry and its connection to cognitive-neuro optometry, so I ended up doing psychology after all! 30 years on and I remain extremely passionate about helping people of all ages with their most precious sense. I have a holistic view in the management of vision. This holistic view takes into account the multisensory nature of vision. Treatment options take into account current research-based and clinical-based evidence from the optometric and neuroscience literature and forums. I believe that vision services should be given with passion, integrity, knowledge, respect and pleasure. I strive to make a difference in the lives of patients of all ages.
Karen Wilson
After growing up in Brisbane, I graduated from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 1990. Since then I have worked in both general and behavioural (neuro-developmental) Optometry for over twenty-five years in Brisbane and surrounding regions. I joined Lees and Henschell Optometrists in 2002. In 2008, I achieved Fellowship with the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometry (ACBO). Having worn contact lenses herself for thirty-five years, she is a keen contact lens practitioner. Karen also has experience in providing services to those requiring care in the areas of therapeutics, sports vision, low vision and patients with special needs. Outside of work Karen enjoys travelling and exploring new places.
Dr Beata Sander
Beata completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the Nicolus Copernicus University Bydgoszcz, Poland in 1995 and qualified as an Ophthalmologist in 2003. In 2015 she graduated from QUT with a Master of Optometry and was awarded the Johnson and Johnson Contact Lens Prize. She continued her academic development and finished a PhD, which aimed to better understand the role of the autonomic nervous system in the development of myopia in 2017. Beata also delivers guest lectures and tutorials to postgraduate and undergraduate students within QUT. Combining her significant clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases and myopia research, with a special interest in the prevention of myopia, Beata strives to provide the best patient care possible.
Kristin Park
Kristin is a local with over nine years of experience in the optical industry. She is very interested in children's eye care, myopia management and therapeutic management of eye disease. Kristin also has an interest in Ortho-K. Outside of work, Kristin enjoys travelling and exploring with her husband.
Giving back
Lees & Henschell has had a long affiliation with Optometry Giving Sight (OGS). We regularly run promotions and competitions with all money raised being donated to OGS.
