Jefferson Daniel
Jefferson Daniel has been an optometrist at Leongatha Optometrists since 2022 and became the practice owner in 2025. Having grown up in Traralgon, Jeff has deep roots in Gippsland and is proud to provide high-quality eye care to the local community.
Jeff completed a Master of Orthoptics at La Trobe University in 2016 and a Master of Optometry at Deakin University in 2020. Before becoming an optometrist, he worked as an orthoptist at Bass Coast Eye Centre for four years.
He has extensive experience working alongside ophthalmologists in regional, metropolitan and international settings. This has given him a broad understanding of complex eye conditions and the importance of collaborative patient care.
Jeff takes a thorough and holistic approach to eye health, ensuring every patient receives comprehensive and personalised care. Although he enjoys all aspects of optometry, he has particular interests in glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye disease, contact lenses and paediatric optometry.
He is therapeutically endorsed to prescribe topical medications for the treatment and management of eye disease. Jeff has also completed the Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses through the Australian College of Optometry and further training in behavioural optometry through the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists.
Outside the practice, Jeff enjoys cricket, squash, badminton and music. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, who has a remarkable talent for dragging him along on hikes and outdoor adventures - whether he feels prepared for them or not.
Giving back
Leongatha Optometrists support local clubs, schools and charities any chance we get. We also donate old spectacles left to us by our patients to the Lions Club which then goes to third world countries to help the less fortunate.
