Our local community at Warrnambool is situated in the middle of lush rural landscapes and breathtaking ocean views and exudes a relaxed ambience and lifestyle. Our heritage-listed city centre is always thriving, being rich in history and having a lot on offer from great food to beautiful gardens and lakes. It doesn't hurt that we are also located at the start of the Great Ocean Road trail, which brings us a mix of both friendly locals and passers-by.

Simon Routson
I have been a practising optometrist for 21 years to date. Whether I am helping someone to operate more efficiently, training children's vision to enhance their quality of life, relieving dry eye symptoms or saving a person’s sight from an eye disease (such as Glaucoma or Macular Degeneration), I feel very privileged to be able to help so many people see our beautiful world better.
Dr. Victor Liu
I recently graduated from Melbourne University as a Doctor of Optometry. I chose to become an optometrist as I have always wanted to work in the health services field. Optometry was the stand-out for me because of our most valued sense of sight. I've previously worked as a laboratory technician and an optical dispenser. In my spare time, I love being outdoors, reading, acting, playing tennis and swimming.
Dr. Melissa Ung
Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from The University of Melbourne. Melissa has gained invaluable experience in various locations including volunteering in Cambodia. There, she helped those less fortunate by screening for cataract surgery. Melissa has spent the last two years in Warrnambool gaining extensive experience managing amblyopic children, ocular diseases, glaucoma and various dry eye conditions.
After receiving her first pair of glasses in school, Melissa became passionate about pursuing Optometry in order to help others with their sight. Melissa’s interests include Paediatric optometry, ocular management and foreign body removal.
Dr Melissa Ung has already become a valued member of our Yarra Junction Optical family. We are delighted for her to join our community.
Dr. Merry Chen
Optometry brings me joy as I am able to provide people with their clearest vision possible, whether it be through glasses, vision therapy or managing their ocular health. In the final year of my Doctor of Optometry course, I undertook a four-week clinical placement on the Phelophepa healthcare train which provides low-cost healthcare services to rural communities across South Africa. The highlight of my experience was seeing how a simple pair of reading glasses literally changed these people’s lives. Outside of work, I love spending time with my friends, family and pets, going to the gym, enjoying good food and travelling.
Dr. James Mitchell
I chose to study Optometry as I wanted to be able to help people with their health, and vision is such an important part of everything we do. I spend most of my spare time at the beach or training and playing basketball for the Warrnambool Seahawks.

Our mission is to provide quality eye health to the wider community and we are proud to support the local schools and small business owners in our area.
