Optometry allows me to help the local elderly Italian community who have difficulty communicating with the health profession. By communicating in their native tongue anxiety is alleviated and their eye concerns are addressed. The reward is building friendships, hearing their stories and also many Italian delicacies including homemade wine!
Anastase Kalamovrakas
I've always enjoyed studying science and so I was led to Optometry as it combined my two passions; working with and helping people, and science. After hours I love going on holidays to warm places (especially Greece in summer) and gardening.
Giving back
Preston Eyecare supports Optometry Giving Sight, providing the gift of sight to millions of people in third world countries. We also spend extra time with our elderly Italian and Greek patients speaking in their native tongue to alleviate anxiety and making them feel better cared for.
