For almost 20 years, Somerville & Merrin Optometrists have been a leader in optometry in Toowoomba. Our Hume Street practice is one of two friendly, professional, full-scope optometry practices focused on delivering the highest standard of personalised eye care and quality eyewear so you see and look your best. At both of our practices, we offer decades of combined clinical expertise. You can also choose from a wide array of frames, from the classic to the quirky - something for everyone. We love the diversity of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs surrounds. We recently moved into our new Hume Street home from our Toowoomba Plaza location down the road. We enjoy caring for a vibrant mix of patients who are also passionate about Toowoomba.

Geoff Somerville
I followed in my father's footsteps into the optometry profession, as he too was an optometrist who practiced in Toowoomba. 38 years later, I proudly continue the family tradition of quality, personalised eyecare. And when I'm not doing that, you might see me at the gym or watching motor sports.
Vivienne Price
I appreciated the importance of good vision at an early age as I required vision correction myself with glasses and contact lenses, and I understood the difference it makes to your quality of life. For the last 31 years, I have been helping other people enjoy the best possible vision they could attain. When I'm not practising optometry, I enjoy tennis, reading, quilting and travelling (when I can!)
Stephen Lucas
I always had an interest in maths and science and knew I wanted to be involved in the health sciences so I could combine my interests with the ability to help people. It was actually my mum who originally suggested pursuing optometry as a profession, which I have now been practising for 12 years. When I'm not consulting, I love spending time with my wife and two daughters, as well as walking, playing the viola and following AFL.
Giving back
Somerville & Merrin's team of optometrists and optical assistants are involved in closing the gap on avoidable sight loss through the Essilor Vision Foundation, local school vision screening programs and by volunteering for international eye clinics, including the Myanmar (formerly Burma) Eye Care Program. Geoff Somerville also donates his time to Toowoomba's Low Vision Clinic in conjunction with Guide Dogs Queensland.
