Our optometrists are constantly updating their clinical skills and the practice's diagnostic technology. We work closely with local general practitioners, ophthalmologists, and allied health services in delivering an exceptional standard of care.

Independent optometry allows us to best serve the eye health and optical needs of our local community through expanded access to high-quality suppliers and technology. This allows our knowledgeable and experienced team to present to you with options and information that is suited to your unique eye health and vision. We can tailor a pair of glasses to your individual taste and visual needs. With qualified spectacle makers on-site, you might even be able to take your new glasses home on the same day.

Geoff Demare
I am an ex-pat from rural Canada and completed my Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Melbourne in 2016. Following my degree, I joined an independent optometry practice in rural New South Wales. For the next three years, I gained much experience in helping patients manage their often complex eye conditions with local GPs and distant ophthalmologists. I joined Sunbury Optical in January 2020 and am excited to serve our community. Outside of the practice, I am a husband and father of 3 young children and enjoy choral music, clay target shooting and homecooked meals.
Rod Baker
I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1988 and was appointed Head of Paediatric Services at the ACO in 1994. I was a clinical teacher at the University of Melbourne for 10 years and the President of Optometry Victoria for a year. I have also served on the Board of the Australian College of Optometry, chairing the clinical services committee. I was privileged to deliver care in rural Papua New Guinea and later to train Nurse Educators in South Africa. From 2012 to 2017, I worked to support the establishment of the optometry course at Flinders University in Adelaide. Outside of optometry, I reflect on the world through singing and writing music.
