At Swan Hill Optical we pride ourselves on providing high-quality eyecare and eyewear to the residents of the Mallee region for over 30 years. Our locally owned clinic has an experienced team of optometrists who practice full scope optometry and use the latest in diagnostic technology. We also stock an extensive range of frames and lenses to allow for all your individual vision needs to be met, whilst ensuring your lifestyle is enhanced. Our qualified dispensers are able to fit lenses and assist with frame repairs on-site. Our team works together to ensure that your eyecare experience is at a consistently high standard during all stages of your time at our practice.

Being an independent clinic enables us to practice all aspects of optometry, including comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, paediatric care, disease management and post-operative services. We work closely with ophthalmologists based in Bendigo and Melbourne to co-manage clients and limit the need for them to travel for management of a variety of eye conditions. Our independence also enables us to source frames and lenses from around the world so that we can recommend a quality product that suits your individual style, comfort and budget. Given our rural location, it is imperative that we do our best to manage the vision health needs of our community.

The Mallee region is a beautiful part of the country in which to work and raise a family. The landscape is stunning with the Murray River and many a beautiful lake on our doorstep. Our lifestyle can be as active or as relaxing as we please – from camping, fishing and bush-walking, to golf, tennis, football, netball, kayaking, water-skiing and sailing. Our schools and sporting communities are strong, dedicated and full of volunteers, and promote a healthy and productive lifestyle that we all like to partake in. The Mallee people are proud and loyal, and appreciate local knowledge and quality service. Our team is very appreciative and humbled by the local support we have received for our business.

Jenalle Pye
My mother is a high myope and an incredible country community minded health professional. My brother is partially blind, and I too am a high myope. Through childhood experiences with the eye health industry, I wanted to combine my love of medical science with working and helping country people. I've been an optometrist for 14 years and feel incredibly proud that we can offer our regional patients a complete eye health service, despite our relative isolation. In my spare time, I love experiencing good food and drinks with my family and friends. We are fortunate to live on beautiful Lake Boga, and my husband, four children and I enjoy swimming, water-skiing and boating during Summer and Autumn, as well as going to the beach any chance I get. I also thoroughly enjoy coaching junior netball, as well as still have a run around myself.

Vision is an important part of our lives, and is something that can be easily taken for granted. It is very rewarding being able to impact positively on someones life by way of improving their vision. Outside of work, I am a big sports fan and enjoy both spectating and playing tennis as well as going down to see Geelong play at the MCG. I also value catching up with my family and friends, and travelling to new places.
Giving back
Our practice and staff actively support local schools, sporting clubs and charity fundraisers through volunteer work and donations. Our optometrists present seminars to local health professionals and the general public on topics such as diabetes and emergency eyecare. We also provide low cost spectacle options in the practice in conjunction with the Victorian Eyecare Scheme and Aboriginal Health program.
