Optometry was always something I have known, wearing glasses since I was 3. It is a very rewarding profession ' combining health, technology and people. Outside of work I love visiting my family in Cyprus during our cold winters and of course, Rabbitoh's victories.
Kathryn Naumann
I became an Optometrist to help people. It's also a great combination of science and maths and the social aspect is a bonus. Outside of work I enjoy bike riding, traveling and of course hanging out with friends, family and our dog.
Jessica McDonald
I became an optometrist 12 years ago because I enjoy helping people achieve their best vision and giving advice on how best to look after your eyes. Science and maths were my favourite subjects at school and I always wanted to do something health related. In my spare time, I love taking my kids to the park, cross-stitching and reading books.
Samantha Scarlett
I became an optometrist as I had always been interested in a career in health. I then read an article about how more children are needing glasses because of increased screen usage, and the rest is history. I've been an optometrist for 3 years, and I love being able to help patients with dry eye conditions. In my free time, I love to go to the gym, pilates, bike riding, weekends away with my partner and brunch with friends.
Prue Walsh
I’ve always had a strong interest in pursuing a career in allied health. After researching it became apparent that there was a shortage of optometrist servicing regional and rural areas and so I felt optometry would be a very rewarding career with great job opportunities. Furthermore, it provides a great work-life balance and love that I get to meet and build great relationships with my patients. Outside of work, most of my time is filled in with sport – netball, AFL football and tennis. In the summer months I love waterskiing, camping and fishing with family and friends.
Giving back
Locally, Zacharia Naumann Optometry supports many causes, including sporting teams, Rotary Darkness to Light, Northcott Society, Kurrajong and families in need. Donations are accepted for repairs on behalf of Optometry Giving Sight. We have also been a sponsor of the Gold Cup fashions on the field since 2002.
